Q: Why do certain page URLs reference z2 systems instead of ldfla.com?  Are these safe?
A: LDFLA.com is the Lake Dunmore Fern Lake Assocation's official website, where all lake information and news is stored. The LDFLA Member Portal, which allows members to pay annual dues, update contact information, set email preferences, etc. was built in on a customer relations management system.  Both sites are safe and integrated with one another. Please contact us if you have questions regarding these service platforms.

Q. Is payment with a credit card secure?
A. Yes, we use a third party platform as our credit card processing partner which is Thawte Certified site.

Q. I don't have email, and limited access to the Internet. Will I stop receiving information if I don't sign up on ldfla.com?
A. No, you will not notice any change in our correspondence with you. We will use regular mail service.

Q. How do I manage my membership (e.g., pay dues, add additional household members) online?

Milfoil

Q: What is milfoil?
A: Eurasian Watermilfoil is an invasive species which has been in Lake Dunmore since the late 1980's.  Please visit our Milfoil Project page for more information.

Q: How do I report milfoil on the lake or near my property?

Mosquitos

Q: Who manages the insect (e.g., mosquito) control on the lakes?
A: The Otter Creek Watershed Insect Control District (OCW).  Visit the Insect Control page for an overview, or OCW website for more information.

Q: Can I opt my property out of mosquito treatment?
A: Yes. Please see the detailed instructions at https://ocwicd.com/adulticide-program or call (802) 247-6779 to request an oral briefing. An OCW employee will contact you to assist in marking your property as a no spray zone.

Fishing

Q: What kinds of fish are found in Lake Dunmore and Fern Lake?
A: Black Crappie, Brown Bullhead, Lake Trout, Largemouth Bass, Landlocked Atlantic Salmon, Northern Pike, Panfish, Rainbow Smelt, Rainbow Trout, Smallmouth Bass, And Yellow Perch

Q: Where can I purchase a fishing license?
A: Fishing license available at the Salisbury Town Clerk’s Office and online

Boating

Q: Is there public boat launch access on Lake Dunmore?
A: Both Lake Dunmore and Fern Lake are public bodies of water administered by the State of Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Department of Environmental Conservation. There are public access areas on each lake.  On Lake Dunmore, the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife boat launch area is located on West Shore Road just south of Waterhouse’s Marina.  There is also a small boat launch at the foot of Sage Court on the east side of Lake Dunmore.  Branbury State Park, also on the east side of Lake Dunmore, is available for public swimming during the summer and has an access area for canoes and kayaks, but not for other boats.  The gravel parking lot at the south end of Fern Lake is a public access and boat launch area.

Q: Is there a speed limit on the lakes?
A: On Lake Dunmore, boat speed is restricted to 5 miles per hour when closer than 200 feet to the shoreline, other boats, or people in the water. There is a 5 miles per hour speed limit throughout the entirety of Fern Lake

Q: Do I need a boater's license?
A: You need education if you were born after Jan. 1, 1974, and will be operating a motorized vessel or PWC in Vermont.
