Dunmore Dip

2013 DUNMORE DIP RESULTS

Lord Dunmore’s clock took the plunge on April 1, at 4:38 pm. The 2013 winners are the Perera and Schmitt extended family with four generations as summer residents on Indian Trail, Lake Dunmore. Their family members come from all over the US and Canada to enjoy their camp on the lake. They have many happy memories of the lake and are supporters of our milfoil project. One member of their fourth generation even worked with the milfoil crew for a summer. Their guess was at 4:30pm on April 1. The pay out is $1003.00 on their collective $120.00 investment - a good return for their families’ entries.

The LDFLA wants to thank all who played our Fourth Dunmore Dip Ice Out Contest and extend a special thanks to all those who forwarded emails to friends and family and those business who let us put our entry materials in their establishments. You made our international contest bigger and the pay out better, crossing the four figure $ mark this year. Thank you for contributing and supporting this 50/50 for our milfoil control project.

Lord Dunmore will be recuperating from his winter travels with the help of the John Ebert “Spa Center” in preparation for his appearance at the LDFLA 4 of July Parade on the Lake. The rest of the LDFLA board members who also helped in this campaign will be cleaning up their properties for summer.

Congratulations Perera and Schmitt families. Here’s to summer!!

Official 2013 Ice Out time: APRIL 1, 2013 at 4:38pm

The Dunmore Dip started 4 years ago. It has evolved into an international contest played by people all over the U.S. and even some from across the Pond. Last year one of the winners was from the UK.

The Dunmore Dip has a mission behind the fun. A bet on when the ice will go out in the spring will help us win the battle against milfoil in our lakes. Half of the ticket monies will be paid to the winner and other half will go toward our Milfoil Program. Pay out last year was over $700.00.

The objective of the game is to guess the date and time Lord Dunmore sees the red flag and stops the clock. Lord Dunmore will be on Brush’s point visible from Rt. 53, just south of Camp Keewaydin. He will be holding his clock, watching for the ice to go out. Whoever has the closest entry to the date and time the clock stops wins the contest. (In spring 2012 his clock stopped at 10:15 AM on March 13.)

You can guess as many times as you like - $1 per guess. The entry form is available to download below where it says “ice out ticket forms”.

Be sure to fill out the forms carefully with your name and address so we will be able to contact you if you are a winner. Make checks payable to LDFLA and send form to LDFLA, PO Box 14, Salisbury, Vt. 05769-0014.

We ask for your support by playing and helping to promote our game.

Entries MUST BE postmarked by MARCH 15, 2013.

Thanks for playing and promoting and may the best guess win!
